Winhall
Haven't posted in a while since I've been busy with work. I've been inspecting the work that the contractor(s) have been doing for a culvert repair in Winhall. The project is small enough that there's no field trailer. It's also an hour away from my office. There's no cell service where the culvert is, so I couldn't even use an AirCard. So my weekends were spent catching up on paperwork!
The project started last year, but was interrupted by TS Irene and didn't begin this year until June 1st due to the Agency of Natural Resources stream restrictions. We finally got going and I left for vacation...and when I got back from vacation I was filling in for a co-worker on his three projects - so there's a lot I didn't get to see in Winhall. I did get to see the two foot minus stream bed material going in (way too big, the designers are going to hear about that in the project review), the three foot minus stone slopes, the pavement, the water diversion leaving and the general clean up.
Some of the exciting moments: a hot Friday afternoon when the temporary super realized that the base of the boom on the excavator was cracked through on two sides! The warm day that the cable on the crane broke - no one was hurt, but everyone's adrenaline got pumping!
There are just a few things left to do field wise for this project, but lots of paperwork to do still. Not sure where I'm headed after this project. Our project schedule got all messed up by Irene and hasn't straightened out quite yet.

Driving back from a job site, I got to see some incredible clouds. There are advantages, sometimes, to late hours!
