Hawai'i Day Three

Diamond Head hiking trail

midpoint view of the ocean

looking towards the top of the trail

We didn't quite make the top.  I do not suggest doing this trail in the morning (full sun) after a large breakfast and hiking the trail at a rapid pace...  Just my thoughts.  :)  We meant to try again in the afternoon when you might be hiking in the shade, but we never made it back.

Hawai'i Day Two - Part Two

Very rare headstone - generally when the headstones are replaced, the former are shredded.  This headstone is one of the very, very few that has made it to a museum.

The submarine Wahoo bell.  All bells are left at base when submarines go to sea.

North Shore

A wind farm.
I wish VT had more of these - I think they are so cool and much better than solar power.

Hawai'i Day Two - Part 1

USS Arizona Memorial:

...still bleeding oil...

Some of the names that perished

One of the anchors for the USS Arizona

Submarine Bowfin

Two man room

Five man room

"coffin" room sleeping area

Thought it rather strange that the gun sight for the Bowfin was pointed towards the USS Missouri.
